On the other side of the Atlantic in the U.K., the 128GB iPhone 13 Pro Max starts at £1,049, rising to £1,149 for the 265GB model and £1,349 for the 512GB version. If you have a lot of money to burn and want a lot of storage, the 1TB iPhone 13 Pro will cost £1,549.

The biggest upgrade to the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s display — and the biggest upgrade overall — is the new display display. This 6.7-inch panel can dynamically scale its refresh rate from 10Hz to 120Hz, resulting in smoother overall performance and animations.
For example, when scrolling through the New York Times homepage on the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the iPhone 12 Pro Max side by side, I could easily read the text on Apple’s new phone when scrolling quickly on both displays. I can. It just feels more responsible.
These benefits also apply to other activities, such as swiping between apps or returning to the home screen. But I’m more excited about apps that take advantage of the promotion. This includes Catalyst Black, a frenetic online war game that turned me into monsters by shooting all over the place. And the whole experience was surprisingly fluid.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Max initially had an issue where some apps didn’t support 120Hz, but the iOS 15.4 update enables a 120Hz refresh rate for third-party apps.
Another plus of the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s screen is its increased brightness. We measured an average of 837 nits with the adaptive setting off and 1,038 nits with the adaptive on. The iPhone 13 Pro Max has a larger camera design for a logic. The main wide camera is Apple’s largest yet at 1.9μm pixels (up from 1.7μm) while offering an f/1.5 aperture, rated to let in 49 percent more light than the iPhone 12 Pro Max. has gone And the ultra-wide camera offers a large f/1.8 aperture (the iPhone 13 Pro Max had f/2.4) for bright photos while offering a wide field of view.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max also gets a zooming boost, with the iPhone 13 Pro Max telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom, which is 2.5x more than the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
And beyond the hardware, many of the camera’s upgrades are ready. For example, the iPhone 13 Pro Max claims an ultra-wide camera to capture close-up photos from a distance of 2cm. I loved being on a beach so close to the ocean. While the iPhone 12 Pro Max was a tough go for the trick, I was able to grab everything with the new phone.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max also did a fantastic job of capturing this purple pansy, with lots of detail in the purple color and petals. And I got very close to this horrible spotted lanternfly crawling among the rocks. I could also make fine lines in each of his legs and his wings.
Just keep in mind, macro mode can be a little fiddly to use at times, full of jitters and jerks when it’s automatically triggered, but Apple is working on fixing that.
One more new iPhone 13 camera feature is Photographic kind, which lets you choose how you want your photos to watch in terms of inflection and passion. Your options include Standard, Rich Contrast, Dynamic, Warm, Cool. And you can manage them as you watch suitable.
In terms of overall image quality, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is a step ahead of other best camera phones. Take this picture of a pumpkin, with the sun on top and plenty of shade. The iPhone 13 Pro Max captures a more vibrant landmark in the foreground, and the pumpkins themselves look more vibrant than the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s shot. However, Samsung’s picture is a bit brighter overall.

The more complex the image, the more the iPhone 13 Pro Max shines, as shown in this comparison shot taken near the water’s edge. The iPhone’s image more accurately captures the transparency of the water, making the surrounding rocks pop, while the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s image looks flat in comparison.
Despite the jump from 2.5 to 3x for telephoto zoom on the iPhone 13 Pro Max, it still lags behind Samsung’s best. Zooming some boats to 3x, I prefer slightly brighter images from the S21 Ultra in this case. And at 15x digital zoom, the writing on the ship looks sharper in the Samsung shot. Minimum the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s 15x zoom is finer than the 12x Max digital zoom on the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

When it comes to ultra wide photos, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is face to face with the Galaxy S21 Ultra also here. But I give the new iPhone a slight edge because of the detail in the rock and especially the ripples in the water.
I shot these hydrangea flowers in near-total darkness at night to test the iPhone 13 Pro Max in low light. Neither image looks very sharp, but the iPhone delivers more accurate pink and bright green leaves.

Significant improvements in graphics
Thanks to its new A15 Bionic chipset, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is ridiculously fast and holds the title of the fastest phone in the world. I got completely lost in the Warp Drive racing game, which delivers fast frame rates and silky smooth action even as you zoom (and sometimes teleport) around the track.
And I also got a kick out of Sake, which flexes the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s machine learning muscles by instantly identifying several plants around my house, from coleus to New Guinea impatiens.
In terms of benchmarks, the iPhone 13 Pro Max destroys the Android competition once again. In Geekbench 5, which measures overall performance, the iPhone 13 Pro Max scored a multi-core score of 4,549 and a single-core score of 1,720.The Galaxy S21 Ultra hit 3,440 and 1,123 appropriately, although the iPhone 12 Pro Max reached 4,111 and 1,603.
Interestingly, the iPhone 13 scored a slightly lower 4,436/1,668, which we think could be due to the Pro Max’s higher RAM. (Apple doesn’t disclose how much memory it packs into its various iPhone models.)
You should expect a graphics boost on the iPhone 13 Pro Max, as it vaulted ahead of the competition on the 3DMark Wildlife Unlimited test. It registered a frame rate of 68.4 fps compared to 54 fps for the iPhone 12 Pro Max and 34 fps for the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Video editing should be a snap for this phone, too, as the iPhone 13 Pro Max took just 25 seconds to transcode a 4K file to 1080p in the Adobe Premiere Rush app. That’s slightly faster than the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s 28.5 seconds, but faster than Samsung’s 1:02 time.

iPhone 13 Pro Max survey: Battery timing and charging

FaceTime gets some much needed audio and video improvements and, as of iOS 15.1, you can use the new Share Play feature to listen to music or watch movies or TV shows with friends or family. And the Messages app has a new Shared With You section for easy access to shared photos, articles and more.
I principally like the new Focus feature in iOS 15, which lets you filter notice based on what you are doing. Notifications are also more streamlined, thanks to a new summary view so you’re not overwhelmed.
Other iOS 15 goodies include a redesigned Safari (I actually don’t like the address bar at the bottom, but you can change it), a full-featured Weather app and an improved Maps app with more detail and better road views. included. Last but not least, LiveText gives you Google Lens-like power by recognizing text in real-time through the camera to find things.
Developers make great apps for Apple devices, and that hasn’t slowed down with the release of iOS 15. We’d recommend loading up on some of the best iPhone apps or, if you’re new to the platform, getting the best apps for a new iPhone.

iPhone 13 Pro Max: iOS 16
Apple started releasing the iOS 16 beta over the summer, which you can test on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The biggest updates coming later this year are around the lock screen. Apple will now let you fully customize it. It’s really quite neat.

iPhone 13 Pro Max Issues and Problems
So far, iPhone 13 owners have faced a few issues. For example, some iPhone 13 users are finding that the phone won’t unlock with the Apple Watch, although a fix is in the works. Also, some iPhone 13 owners are complaining that the touch display isn’t responsive enough in some cases, which could be an iOS 15 issue.
On the iPhone 13 Pro in particular, there have been complaints that the cameras are automatically switching between lenses without warning, and Apple has rolled out an update that will enable users to turn this off. And the promotion displays on the iPhone 13 with some apps not running at 120Hz (opens in a new tab), which Apple will address in an update. Definitely, developers require to optimize their apps as good.

iPhone 13 Pro Max review: The verdict
The iPhone 13 Pro Max is the rare phone that gets a 5-star rating from us. You get superior camera and video recording capabilities — including a great Cinematic mode and Macro mode — blistering performance and a very responsive 120Hz display. Also, battery life is even better this time around than we’ve seen with 5G flagships.
I also like the little finer 3x optical zoom and 15x digital zoom, brighter screen and slightly smaller mark on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. But I wish Apple could provide faster charging, and I’d like to see a sleeker design next time with the iPhone 14, with less camera bump and perhaps an all-screen design.
Some may prefer the iPhone 13 Pro simply because it is smaller and lighter, as there are no other functional differences between the two handsets. But if you prefer a bigger screen, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is the best you can get in a phone.
