Quaid-e-Azam University
Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad (Urdu: Jamia-e-Azam; commonly referred to as QAU), founded as Islamabad University, is a public research university in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Founded in 1967 as the University of Islamabad, it was initially dedicated to postgraduate studies, but later expanded to become an interdisciplinary university offering undergraduate and postgraduate education, and Established as Quaid-e-Azam University in 1973.
Overview:
As of 2015, QAU has become the largest university in Islamabad with a total enrollment of over 13,000. The university is on a 1,700-acre (or 6.9 km2) campus in the foothills of Margalla.[6] Divided into four faculties and nine affiliated research institutes, QAU is among Pakistan’s largest and highest-ranking public universities.
QS Rankings in 2024: QAU is ranked 315th globally. The rank of physics department is 201-250. The rank of the Mathematics Department is 150-200. Agriculture department rank is 201-250. Among emerging economies, QAU ranks 401-450. QAU is ranked 86th in Asia.

The university has intellectual interactions with international organizations including the United Nations, the University of Tokyo, and ICTP.[2][8] Since its inception, it has attracted many public figures and intellectuals as its current and former faculty, researchers, or alumni. Counts in students. They include Maleeha Lodhi, Naseem Zahra, Shamshad Akhtar, Sohail Zuberi, Abdul Rashid Ghazi, Farzana Aslam, Tasneem Zahra and Salma Zahid. Currently, the university is being led by Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar.
History:
Islamabad University was established on 22 July 1967 by the Government of Pakistan. It was named Quaid-e-Azam University in honor of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in 1976 – the year of his birth centenary. However, the name of the university was spelled differently i.e. “i” was used instead of “e” for Ezāfe which combines the two words of Jinnah’s title of Quaid-i-Azam.
The university initially offered teaching and research programs for PhD and MPhil degrees and later offered Masters programs. The university now offers undergraduate programs between evening and morning shifts.
Quaid-e-Azam University has four different faculties and 38 departments, institutes, schools and centers.

Central Library:
The University has a Central Library (CL), named DR. Raziuddin Siddiqui Memorial Library is located in the heart of the university campus and has a total area of about 102,500 square feet. On 06-02-1999 Central Library (CL) was renamed as Dr. Raziuddin Siddiqui Memorial (DRSM) Library.

Honoring Dr. Raziuddin Siddiqui for his outstanding and outstanding achievements as the founding Vice Chancellor of Quaid-e-Azam University. The university offers DRSM library services to the faculty and students of the university.
